Greetings Friends,

  • In studio
Here are my latest thoughts and show updates on look-a-likes, dirty money and a remarkable 75 year old woman:

Separated At Birth?

alfred                    Blogo
Alfred E. Newman                  Gov. Blagojevich

Toomy Lee Jones                  Norv Turner

All Star Moment!
Recently a listener, Barrett from Pacific Beach, called the show and described the outstanding service he received from one of our sponsors, Hazard Center Auto Mart.

We want to commend Barrett for conducting business with our sponsors and for sharing his experience with our audience.

We also want to commend Hazard Center Auto Mart for providing the type of service that makes it easy to refer them to others.   Hazard Center Auto Mart is located at 163 and Friars Rd. (next to Denny's) in San Diego.

Hush Money Or Job Well Done?
Outgoing President Bush paid David Aguillar, Chief of the BorderPatrol Agency, a $61,000 bonus for a job well done...an amount twice that of the average entry level pay of a Border Agent.

This despite chronic low morale among the agency, a general feeling of a lack of leadership, and a deep sense of unfairness in the case of Ramos and Campeon.

Rich Pierce the #2 man at the Border Patrol Council (ie: Union representing BPA's) joined me on Inside the Story and called the bonus, "hush money paid to Aguillar for keeping his mouth shut regarding all the agencies problems".

Pierce also said the Obama administration offered to meet with Pierce to hear the his concerns and recommendations for improvements... something which NEVER happened in 8 years under the Bush administration. Pierce recommended the replacement of Aguillar.

You can hear my interview with Rich Pierce on 'Inside the Story' here.

Ignacio Ramos's infant son was only 3 months old when Ramos was taken away from his family and forced to begin serving his prison sentence.

In a 180 degree turn, prosecutor Johnny Sutton now calls the sentencing of the two agents "excessive".

Update On Important Story...
SandyThree teenagers recently kidnapped a 75-year-old La Mesa woman, beat her and kept her tied up in the back of her station wagon for 26 hours without food or water.

El Cajon police discovered the kidnapping while stopping the three scumbags on a routine traffic violation.

While appearing on The Rick Amato Show and discussing ideas of how the show could possibly help the victim, attorney Kerry Armstrong brilliantly suggested that the show help pay her medical expenses- if like many seniors- she is lacking proper insurance coverage and in need of help.

I had the honor of speaking with 75 y.o. Ms. Sandy Vinge- off the air- and she asked me to thank all of our listeners "for their sweetness".  In a remarkably upbeat voice and spirit she informed me that her insurance coverage is adequate and she thankfully is not in need of financial help.

She also said she looks forward to joining us on the show after the trial.

We wish her well, we will be following the trial and look forward to justice being served.

In The News
The Rick Amato Show has been in the news quite a bit as of late.

The San Diego News Room interviewed us in a piece they did on the possible return of the so-called Fairness Doctrine.  Also interviewed in the article was an anchorwoman from government subsidized KPBS.

Stunningly she advocated for the Fairness Doctrine to be applied to both radio and the internet. (As if the internet lacks choice for consumers).  An example of how working in a government protected business stunts ones views of marketplace reality.

The Voice Of San Diego gave us a shout-out in an article titled San Diego Killed The Radio Star.  The article, written by Randy Dotinga, pointed out that we are now only one of three remaining live and local shows in San Diego (that aren't sports, selling a product, or government subsidized).

To gain an understanding of the status and importance of local radio, I encourage you to read the article.

Introducing
Jesse Lipscomb!  Jesse, a West Point grad, can now be heard weeknights 7p-8p dispensing financial advice on 1170 KCBQ.  Jesse is also the Financial Contributor to The Rick Amato Show and will join us from time to time to provide expert commentary.

You can reach Jesse at 619-280-2700.

...As a reminder...
We
are not government subsidized like programming on public broadcasting. We will never be the recipient of a government bailout program.  We do not have the luxury of a distant, detached corporate home office located in some out of town city providing cash to fund the program and keep it afloat.

We exist solely because businesses invest their hard earned money in anticipation of you- our listening audience- purchasing their products or services.

To Our Loyal Listeners:
Support our sponsors.

To Business Owners In Our Audience:
Expose you business to our audience by becoming a sponsor.

To schedule a brainstorm session email me or call our marketing dpt. at 619-200-7228.

Best Wishes,

Rick

Local Talk Radio is Alive and Thriving on The Rick Amato Show!

An Important Message for All Loyal Listeners to The Rick Amato Show

An Important Message For Our Loyal Audience

Logo
Amato Insider Newsletter

Greetings Friends,

  • In studioIt is not often that I label a message to you as important. Below is an important message that will be a theme in 2009 and I will continue to gently remind you of throughout the year.  Please take a moment  to read.
Best Wishes and Happy New Year!,
       Rick

It TangoTakes Two
As we enter a new year I want to thank all of our loyal lis
teners and loyal sponsors for making 2008 a successful year on The Rick Amato Show. Without either one of you, there is no Rick Amato Show to be heard each night on 1170 KCBQ.

Not G
Corporate Welfareovernment Subsidized
We
are not government subsidized like programming on public broadcasting. We will never be the recipient of a government bailout program.  We do not have the luxury of a distant, detached corporate home office located in some out of town city providing cash to fund the program and keep it afloat.

Why We Exist
We exist and continue to operate and grow for one very simple reason:

Businesses invest their hard earned money to sponsor our show, in anticipation of you our listening audience,  purchasing their products or services.  That's it. No other reason. Without that there is no Rick Amato Show on KCBQ for you to listen to and enjoy.

A Message To Our Loyal Audience:
Make a point to do business with our sponsors

They are the lifeblood of our existence.  I am able to refer you to them with confidence since in most cases I have personally conducted business with our sponsors and have even formed long term relationships.

A couple examples:

Nancy Gardner- Pres. of Calif Mortgage Consultants. Nancy haNancy Gardner
s been a loyal sponsor from day 1.  She has provided loans for members of my family, has been named a 'Top Business Woman' by the SD Business Journal, and consistently earns the title 'Top Lender in La Jolla'.
I stake my personal reputation on the quality of Nancy Gardner's work. Contact her at  (858)456-3000  or email her.

Laurie Asher- 20th Century Realty. Like Nancy, Laurie is in a tough business and like Nancy she has been a loyal sponsor since day 1. I have conducted personal business with Laurie and can vouch for her integrity, work ethic and expertise.  If you are considering a real estate transaction call Laurie Asher at 619-997-6817 or email her.

To The Business Owners In Our Audience:

ChartExpose your business to our audience by becoming a sponsor of The Rick Amato Show.

You have the capacity to ensure the longevity and growth to a show which you currently listen and enjoy.

We have innovative ideas and strategies to fit your marketing budget and can for example, combine Townhall style events, online marketing and other medium to really make your message hum.

To schedule a brainstorm session on sponsorship Email me directly or call our marketing dpt. at 619-200-7228.

Other Benefits Include:
* Get your company message in front of like minded people.

*Research indicates talk radio listeners are a much more engaged and proactive audience than many other forms of advertising audiences.

Their Loss Is Our Gain
Unfortunately due to economic conditions there are now fewer local talk shows in San Diego and across California. In fact we are now the only (non-sports) talk show on the air in San Diego after the 9:00am morning hour.

The Rick Amato Show long ago established itself as a show of influence. With fewer local shows in San Diego and across California, now our influence is likely to only intensify.

This means opportunity for our sponsors. As our brand name intensifies, likewise so should that of our sponsors.

Additionally let's face it, it is not everyday that a business has the opportunity to affordably brand themselves with a partner of influence, positive messages and importance.

To schedule a brainstorm session on sponsorship Email me directly or call our marketing dpt. at 619-200-7228.
